New research shows that the percentage of Americans with heart disease continues to fall. 6% of adults had heart disease in 2010, down from 6.7 percent in 2006. Experts say this can be because of better treatments for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as declines in smoking.

A new research leaded by doctors at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital gave prostate cancer patients a powerful alpha radiation drug. The new drug was a success – doctors found that the patients who were given the treatment lived longer, and experienced less pain and side effects.
The medics then stopped the trial, saying it was unethical not to offer all of them the treatment.

William Ludwig, a 65 years old man who suffered from leukemia was the first to sign up for a bold experiment at the University of Pennsylvania. T-cells were removed, re engineered and dripped back to his veins. At the beginning William got so sick the doctors weren’t sure he can make it, but after few weeks the fevers were gone. The medical team at the University of Alberta Hospital offered a brain cancer patient at the age of 30 to use DCA, a drug used to treat rare metabolic disorders, which also showed the ability to shrink tumors in rats. After 15 months the tumor was gone, 3 other patient who took this drug had their tumors shrink significantly or stop growing.
