International chefs in South Africa for the children

35 international chefs from 8 different countries arrived to South Africa in order to take part in a 10 days culinary journey which will help raise money for the Akani Diepsloot Foundation, African Children’s Feeding Scheme and Meals on Wheels Community Services. The goal is to reach $688,000 US  which will supply 300 children meals for the next 5 years.

Good News: Pneumonia vaccine for Africa children

Kenyan children and Infants in Nicaragua have begun receiving a new vaccine against pneumonia and Yemen, Sierra Leone,  Honduras and Guyana will follow this year. The  vaccine is estimated to save more than half a million lives a year globally.

Gorillas Conservation Efforts Paying Off

In the last seven years the number of endangered mountain gorillas has risen by 26 percent in national parks straddling three African countries. The population of the endangered primate increased from 380 in 2003 to 480 this year.

Ball Used in World Cup Final Raised 74,000$

The ball used in the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Netherlands was being auctioned for charity and raised 74,000$. The money will go to Nelson Mandela Charity organization and will be used to promote education, relief of poverty of children and the support of programs that mitigate the impact of the HIV AIDS pandemic in Africa.
