The city of Chicago is trying to have a greener taxi flee, and started a program on which cab companies will get an incentive to use hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles.

‘World’s Largest’ Solar Plant

Abu Dhabi will build the world’s largest concentrated solar power plant which will offset 170 thousand tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The new power plant will spread on 2.5 square kilometers and will have a capacity of 100 megawatt, it will be complete within 2.5 years and will cost about 600 million dollars.

Super Green City in Abu Dhabi

In an inhospitable desert on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi a new green city named Masdar being build.  The new city will use solely renewable energy and will produce no waste where no cars and no skyscrapers will be present. The city is planned to have a population of 50,000 people, a university and about 1,000 businesses.

EU Meets Goals of Renewable Energy

The EU, which is made up 27 member countries, keeps moving forward and it is on its way of reaching 20 percent of its energy to be supplied by renewable resources by 2020. The EU will meet its other two goals as well of increasing energy efficiency by 20 percent and decreasing emissions by 20 percent.

Very Efficient Gas Engine

Transonic Combustion company is planning to start commercial manufacturing of very efficient gas engine on 2014. The new technology improves significantly the efficiency of the engine by heating and pressuring the gasoline in the injection process, reaching up to 98MPG efficiency.

Toyota will use ‘Green’ Plastic

Toyota will use ‘green’ plastic, which is made of plants and naturally disposed without environmental damage, in the Prius manufacturing. This new material is verified in lab to poses similar heat endurance and shock resistance as normal plastic.
