A baby was born to a 42 years old mother from the US from an embryo which was frozen for almost 20 years. The mother had been undergoing IVF treatment for 10 years without success until the successful implanted embryo.

Regeneration of Nerve Connections

Good news is coming from a group of researchers who succeeded in causing robust regeneration of nerve connections after spinal cord injury. The researchers turned back the developmental clock of rodents by deleting PTEN enzyme which enabled growth of corticospinal tract nerve connections.

New Solar Energy Research

Eindhoven University of Technology is starting new research with aims of developing nano-structured solar cells that can attain an efficiency of more than 65 percent. The researchers claim that nanotechnology, in combination with the use of concentrated sunlight through mirror systems, has the potential to lead to the world’s most efficient solar cell system with a cost price lower than 50 cent per Watt peak.
